2 busted for growing pot in South Georgia Technical College dorm room
AMERICUS, Georgia -- After campus security officers at South Georgia Technical College notified the Sumter County, Georgia Sheriff's Office of drug activity early Tuesday, two students were arrested and jailed.
Reports state campus security searched a dorm room and found marijuana plants growing. When two South Georgia Technical College students were asked to leave the room and wait for Georgia deputies, reports state one picked up some of the marijuana plants and walked out.
Georgia deputies were called to James Hall on South Georgia Technical College's Americus campus shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday where they continued to search the room and discovered a box containing dirt with marijuana growing in it, a growing lamp, several marijuana-smoking devices and several other "drug-related items."
The subject who had picked up the marijuana was searched and authorities found some prescription drugs on his person, reports state.
Jeremy Ryan Middleton, 20, of Stone Mountain and Horatious Lang, 19, of Tabor are both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacture of marijuana, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana within 1,000 ft. of a public school and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lang is also charged with drugs not being kept in their container.
Both men were in jail Tuesday afternoon.
